Post-acquisition revitalisation of Chinese FMCG company

A locally-run FMCG and Food Services company, with a presence throughout Mainland and Greater China, had been acquired by a globally-recognised, Blue Chip corporation. Expert management of the post-acquisition re-structuring process was necessary in order to extract the company’s inherent value, ensuring the company operated to its full potential.

Salzer Consulting co-ordinated all aspects of this integration, with a particular focus on HR management including personnel, processes and systems. The company was successfully steered through the difficult process of transition.

Staff duplication was a significant problem at each of the manufacturing sites and throughout the sales teams. The headcount was reduced, while productivity and transparency were developed to conform to the parent company’s international standards.

Salzer Consulting employed a variety of processes to successfully manage the client’s transition process. These are collectively referred to as Xin De Kai Duan, meaning a “New Beginning”.

Systems restructured to global standards

Many internal systems had to be improved to meet the group’s global standards, others had to be re-built completely. These included Sales and Purchasing, all Administration functions and re-training schemes.

Staff duplication removed fairly and impartially

Extensive headcount reductions demanded sophisticated analysis and modelling techniques. Only top tier of staff were retained and further developed through a fair and impartial process.

Inefficient plant and equipment refurbished

The quality of plant and facilities in the Chinese firm varied widely. Salzer Consulting worked alongside the technical refurbishment team, ensuring that the old inefficiencies and processing problems were eradicated.
