Salzer Consulting joins Management Consulting Group PLC

I am very pleased to announce that Salzer Consulting (formerly known as The Salzer Group) is joining MCG and will be a fourth leg within the Group. This is in line with our strategy and provides yet another dimension to our business and to our clients.

MCG has acquired a 51% stake in Salzer Consulting. Salzer Consulting is run by Adam Salzer, CEO (Clients) and Alexandra Hynes, CEO (Internal) and has 25+ people operating out of offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.

Overview of the business

Salzer Consulting is a broad based consultancy that has deep expertise and knowledge of helping clients in starting, managing and restructuring businesses in difficult Asian markets and especially in Greater China.

The target client companies are multinationals that are acquiring and investing, starting up new operations or are already operating in the region. Salzer Consulting builds relationships and looks to sell to regional CEOs and General Managers, heads of investment and strategy directors.

To these clients Salzer Consulting is able to offer a broad range of services

• Accelerating start-ups - supporting clients in developing green- and brown-field start-ups in country with a focus on staffing and management development
• Acquisition support - as multinationals look to make investments into the region, Salzer Consulting provides strategic advice, identify partners/JVs and focuses on the HR due diligence and post-merger planning
• Restructuring and revitalisation - using well developed tools that are tailored to the specifics of the local environment, Salzer Consulting supports clients through major restructuring again with a focus on managing the HR issues
• Executive Search - a critical component of both the business development approach and the ability to deliver rapid growth and restructuring is Executive Search. Salzer Consulting has a strong background in this area and will continue to provide this as a standalone offering as well as an integrated part of more typical consulting projects
• Project Management - using the deep local market knowledge, Salzer Consulting is able to provide high level project management. This is based on a retainer where strategic advice and market information is provided as well as active project management for the above offerings

Salzer Consulting has clients in many industries and they tend to work in the ‘hot’ industries – currently these are resources, manufacturing and private equity.

People and culture

Adam and Alexandra, as joint-CEOs, represent the senior management and both of them have 25+ years of experience of owning, managing and running businesses in the region. Their combined knowledge is a key asset for Salzer Consulting. Adam focuses on sales, building client relationships and overseeing the delivery of client projects. Alexandra is responsible for managing operations and all support functions.

Adam and Alexandra have built a strong mixed team of international expats with 10+ years of experience and local national professionals. This mix allows Salzer Consulting to integrate closely with client teams who tend to have a similar make-up.

The culture in the business is dynamic and entrepreneurial with limited acknowledgement of country borders and with staff moving easily throughout the region.
