Head of Human Resources for Global ICT Service Provider A global ICT services provider which services high-profile customers the world-over decided to establish China operations to meet the demand created by the growth of their clients’ business in the Asia region. These operations are headquartered in Beijing whilst other offices had been established in Shanghai and Hong Kong. With an initial head count of 35 people, these operations have the capacity to grow to over 350 people in the near future. Requirements To meet the recruitment demands of the company, Salzer Consulting was engaged to find an individual who would be able to build the new business and ensure growth and development into the future. Comprehensive Human Resources Knowledge The ICT industry is developing rapidly in the Asia region. It is a market which is suffering from a lack of specialist knowledge and a skills shortage in the Asia region. The successful candidate needed to have experience in an MNC environment, as well as the ability to establish and run an HR department from scratch, with limited support. Specialist recruitment knowledge is critical to the company’s rapid growth and future R&D direction. The successful candidate further required the ability to work across cultures, with an understanding of European or Western cultures, combined with an affinity for Asia. The company had recently acquired a local technology company in Beijing. Aside from possessing specialist HR knowledge, the candidate also required an understanding of the mergers and acquisitions process in order to support the growth of the company through M&As. Uncovering a talented individual who possessed the required depth of involvement in the whole process of executing HR audits and upsizing and downsizing subsidiaries in an efficient manner presented a significant challenge, but one which Salzer Consulting had the necessary knowledge and experience to overcome. Within a very tight timeframe, Salzer Consulting identified a candidate who had significant experience assisting rapid-growth companies. Having developed the expertise in expeditious hiring of teams of specialists, the successful candidate was able to implement and localise the company’s global HR strategies in a Chinese setting and work these through with different departments. The company is now prepared to meet the challenge of rapid growth “head on”. For more information on how Salzer Consulting can help your business, please contact us. |
