The recently acquired Japanese division of a well known global Pharmaceuticals group was in need of new leadership to facilitate the implementation of an aggressive revitalisation and expansion strategy.

Requirements

Salzer Consulting was exclusively engaged to deliver this assignment that required both extensive local knowledge and industry expertise in addition to being able to project manage stakeholders in multiple time zones.

Process

This business critical assignment was central to the revitalisation and future success of the local business unit; the previous leadership team had been successful, but reached their growth limit.

Attitude and Location

The underlying parameters of the project were to identify leadership that was not only open to the international parent and western management philosophies, but who could also be highly effective in developing the local operating unit.
The roles were to be based in a second tier Japanese city and as such it was further necessary to build a team who both fulfilled the role requirements and were willing to relocate their families.
Through deep market searching, Salzer Consulting’s team were able to identify a range of suitable candidates including many who originated from the area and wanted to relocate back out of Tokyo for family or other reasons.

Outcome
Salzer Consulting’s Project team was able to rapidly deliver a Short List of candidates from a limited pool of available talent and project managed the interview / engagement process to ensure that the new leaders were in place and productive in the shortest possible time.
