Greenfield Resources Site Development in Malaysia (Rare Earths)
A publicly listed resources company was looking to open a green field operations site in Malaysia.
Requirements:
Salzer Consulting was engaged to deliver a complete HR roll-out plan for up to 400 people, over a 3 year period.
The Roll-out was to be planned and delivered using a complex and detailed ManPowerPlanTM (MPPTM) developed by Salzer Consulting which was able to plan and map all employment events as well as providing the full costing which was detailed enough to be used by Client for their Bankable feasibility study.
Process:
A client specific MPPTM was created to facilitate effective project management of the hiring of all employees throughout the development stage of the plant. This included all employment events covering identification, assessment and placements with each individual being fully inducted, trained and productive from Day 1.
Community Relations:
Client wished to maintain good relationships with the community and many of the employees would be sourced locally. These employment and community aspects were incorporated in the plan including on going training within local educational institutions. Rare skills and other areas of specialised recruitment needs were also identified.
Transfer:
It was important to ensure that as much knowledge as possible was transferred to the client during the project. This allowed the client to develop a “cookie-cutter” methodology, allowing subsequent start-ups to require far less consultant support - reducing costs.
Outcome:
During a 16 week project, Salzer Consulting structured a detailed workable project plan that allowed the client to successfully implement the roll out in the desired time-frame.
